I am heading into week five of my vegan journey, and I am finding that if you don’t educate yourself on veganism, it is easy to feel as though there is nothing a vegan can eat.

One of my all time favorite foods is pizza. Friday night I decided to take on the challenge of making my meal vegan at Blaze Pizza… Spoiler alert, it was easy!

When I arrived, there were more than 50 people in the restaurant. I figured I would have to wait a while to finally get my taste of pizza.

To my surprise, they helped me within minutes. I decided to build my own pizza.

Step 1: Traditional Pizza Crust

After doing my research, I discovered the pizza crust sold at Blaze contains filtered water, unbleached flour, extra-virgin olive oil, salt and sugar.

They also have a gluten-free dough option, for those of you with gluten allergies.

Step 2: Sauce

I decided to go with their spicy red sauce.

Step 3: Fresh Toppings

I ordered their vegan cheese. The cheese happens to also be soy-free.

In addition, I added an extensive amount of veggies and fruit. To name a few, I ordered artichokes, arugula, banana peppers, cherry tomatoes, pineapples and more. (Pretty much every topping, excluding onions and jalapeños, because I’m not a fan!)

Step 4: Enjoy

After ordering, my pizza was “fast-fire’d” within five minutes. I couldn’t believe it. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed.

The pizza was delicious. The sauce was spicy, but not too spicy. The cheese was good as well.  The pineapples and tomatoes complemented my vegetables perfectly. The crust was flawlessly crisp. The pizza itself was huge, costing just about $8.  I definitely got my money’s worth.

Also, the service at Blaze was stellar. Every employee greeted me with a smile and helping hand. They even switched their gloves for new ones, just for me, when they created my vegan pizza. I appreciated their attentiveness.

I ended up taking two slices home. After warming it up in the oven the next day, it tasted exactly the same.

I will definitely be back at Blaze. Clearly you can still be healthy and eat pizza. I definitely recommend you treat yourself to Blaze Pizza!

  1. oo girl. check out some other vegan options for pizza restaurants ! Mod Pizza, whole foods (though more expensive, you also get a super big pizza), Fresh Brothers is decent enough (but not my first choice), and Z pizza all have dairy-free cheese options ! =)
